Help Build an Indoor Home for Food Justice in Queens
We’ve secured a new permanent home in Woodside, Queens, a space that brings us closer to the heart of our $0 solidarity community while staying central enough to serve neighbors across the borough. But to open our doors, we need your support to cover critical renovations and our first-ever rental costs.
Every Dollar You Give Will Be Matched.
Thanks to a generous 1:1 match made by an anonymous donor-advised fund at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, every dollar you give will be doubled — $25 becomes $50, $100 becomes $200 and so on.
Your contribution today will have twice the impact in helping us feed families, support local farms, and build a just, community-powered food system. The amount being matched is $250k and we have until September to meet our goal.
This new indoor space will continue to expand our critical work.
With your help, and the power of this 1:1 match, our new Woodside home will create a Queens Community Food Hub that will allow us to build the foundation for a national solidarity food network by:
Distribute more free and low-cost Lifeline Grocery boxes across Queens We’re increasing distribution by 40%, reaching 33,540 boxes per year by 2027.
Serve more New Yorkers facing food insecurity We'll provide Lifeline Groceries to 67,184 individuals annually.
Increase food purchases from BIPOC-owned farms. Our purchases from BIPOC-owned farms will grow by 40%, from $320,000 to $448,000.
Offer more culturally relevant groceries and pantry staples. Families will find the foods they know and love in every box and at our sliding scale farm stand.
Create a dedicated space for community, learning, and advocacy. Our new home will be a place to gather, share, and grow together.
Streamline operations to expand our reach and impact throughout Queens and potentially into other boroughs. Improved logistics will lower costs and increase efficiency
“Having Lifeline Groceries delivered right to my door saves me so much time, and it’s helped me feed my family fresh, local food that makes everyone feel loved. Shopping at the sliding-scale farm stand makes me feel good knowing I’m supporting local farmers and giving back to my community.”
- Lifeline Grocery Member
This is just one of thousands of families who count on us for weekly access to fresh, nourishing food. We’re not just feeding people. We’re building a food system rooted in care, consistency, and equity.
As food insecurity continues to rise and political threats to food access and social support systems like SNAP grow, community-led solutions are more important than ever. For the past five years, from packing groceries in parking lots during the pandemic to running our Lifeline Grocery Initiative, farm stands, and educational programs, Connected Chef has distributed nearly 5 million pounds of food while deepening investments in tri-state area BIPOC farms and centering dignity, choice, and care.
🌱Give today and double your impact🌱
Let’s build a resilient, community-powered food system…starting right here in Queens.
