Food System Education

Through hands-on, project-based curriculum, students explore where food comes from, how it affects their health, and their role in creating a more just food system. Connected Chef partners with educators to spark curiosity, critical thinking, and community connection.

Family Farm Lab & Food Justice for Families

An interactive program that brings together gardening, nutrition, and food justice education for students and families during the Fall and Spring growing seasons.

Participants learn how to grow food, care for community green spaces, and explore the connections between food, health, and environmental justice through interactive workshops and activities.

Families can put their learning into practice with grocery support, seasonal Lifeline Groceries distributions, and recipe demonstrations featuring fresh, accessible ingredients.

This program can be done in partnership with schools, community organizations, and after school programs.

Food Justice Pop-ups

Available as stand-alone workshops or a multi-day series, our Food Justice Pop-Ups introduce students of all ages to topics including food waste reduction, pollinator habitats, sustainable food storage, herbal tea traditions, and creative reuse through upcycled planters. Designed for a variety of age groups and learning environments, each session combines food justice and environmental education with a take-home project that encourages students to continue exploring these concepts at home and within their communities.

Visits and Volunteer

This program is hosted at Connected Chef headquarters. You have a selection of two age groups. Both selections will receive a tour of the space, introduction to our 6 years of service, and support in our weekly Lifeline Groceries packaging that will be distributed to our community the following day.

Our older groups will receive a more in depth but brief presentation on our mutual aid model and how this perpetuates community empowerment and agency.
